1914-1918 1st Battalion. Went out to Western Front as Lines of Communication Troops August, 1914, and posted to 19th Infantry Brigade, 21st August, 1914; Brigade under IIIrd Corps till end of September, 1914; then joined 6th Division till 28th May, 1915; then transferred to 27th Division, transferred to 2nd Division, 19th July, 1915, to 33rd Division 25th November, 1915. Battalion transferred to 98th Infantry Brigade 27th November, 1915. 2nd Battalion. Went out to Western Front with 23rd Infantry Brigade, 8th Division, November, 1914. 3rd Battalion. Went out to Western Front with 85th Infantry Brigade, 28th Division, January, 1915 Brigade transferred to 3rd Division, 19th February, 1915; rejoining 28th Division, 6th April, 1915. Division removed to Salonika, November, 1915. 4th Battalion. Went out to Western Front with 8th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Division, August, 1914; transferred to 63rd Infantry Brigade, 21st Division, 14th November, 1915. Brigade transferred to 37th Division, 7th July, 1916. 7th Battalion.(T.F.) Went out to Gibraltar September, 1914; moved to Western Front, February, 1915, and posted to 23rd Infantry Brigade, 8th Division, 15th March, 1915, temporarily amalgamated with 8th Battalion, 21st June, 1915; resumed independent formation, 2nd August, 1915; transferred to 167th Infantry Brigade, 56th Division, on formation of latter, 5th February, 1916. 2/7th Battalion. Went to Gibraltar, February, 1915; moved to Egypt September, 1915, part of Egyptian Garrison till July, 1916, then moved to Western Front and disbanded. 8th Battalion. Went to Gibraltar, September, 1914; moved to Western Front, March, 1915; and posted to 85th Infantry Brigade, then in 3rd Division. Joining 11th March, 1915; Brigade rejoined 28th Division, 6th April, 1915. Battalion transferred to 23rd Infantry Brigade, 8th Division, 21st June, 1915. Amalgamated temporarily with 7th Battalion same day. Resumed independent formation 2nd August, 1915, and transferred to 25th Infantry Brigade, 8th Division. Transferred to 70th Infantry Brigade, 23rd Division (attached to 8th Division), 23rd October, 1915; transferred to 167th Infantry Brigade, 56th Division, 5th February, 1916. 2/8th Battalion. As 2/7th Battalion (q.v.) 9th Battalion. Went out to India with 44th Division, October, 1914. Moved to Mesopotamia November, 1917, and posted to 53rd Indian Infantry Brigade, 18th Indian Division. 10th Battalion. Went out to India with 44th Division, October, 1914. 2/10th Battalion. Went out to Gallipoli with 160th Infantry Brigade, 53rd Division, July, 1915; Division moved to Egypt, December, 1915. Disbanded 20th August, 1918. 3/10th Battalion. Went out to Western Front, June, 1917'; attached temporarily
to South African Brigade, 9th Division, 6th June 20th July, 1917, then
posted to 10th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division. Disbanded 8th February,
1918. 12th Battalion. Went out to Western Front with 54th Infantry Brigade,
18th Division, July, 1915. Disbanded 12th February, 1918, and became 18th
Entrenching Battalion. 21st Battalion. Went out to Western Front with 121st Infantry Brigade,
40th Division, June, 1916; transferred to 119th Infantry Brigade, same
Division, February, 1918; reduced to Training Cadre 5th May, 1918, transferred
to 34th Division, 3rd June, 1918, to 39th, 17th June, 1918, to 25th Division
29th June, 1918; returned to United Kingdom, 30th June, 1918. Left in
United Kingdom when Divisional Head quarters returned to Western Front,
September, 1918. No. 1 Special Company. Formed at Mill Hill Barracks, April, 1919. Went out to N.R.E.F., April, 1919; returned to England 17th October, 1919, and was broken up.
